Gardening.co.uk member Scotkar wins traditional garden tools from Joseph Bentley for joining the site in April 2008
'The design is based on a unique tool known as the Guernsey hoe.'
Congratulations to new member Scotkar for winning a hand fork and trowel from British manufacturer Joseph Bentley – our monthly join prize for April 2008.
Made from stainless steel, the shaped wooden handles of these tools allow plenty of force to be exerted in a downward direction with little effort. As the wrist is well aligned when using them, most jobs are easier for those with restricted strength in their grip, or if you're doing a lot of repetitive work.
The design is based on a unique tool known as the Guernsey hoe. Many gardeners on Guernsey use one, although nobody can remember the exact origins of the design!
The tools cost from £12.99 each and are available from garden centres. Call 01662 661920 or visit Joseph Bentley for details of stockists or more information.
