On the forum
Carole Willey offers some good gardening tips including making
raised beds out of decking boards.
Carole lives in a housing association home, which came with a '120ft by 80ft jungle'. She and her partner have sown a new lawn for the kids to use and installed two sheds and a greenhouse. Of the many materials used, including poles for fencing, patio slabs, bricks, wood for the raised beds and an old seat, all are recycled: 'I will reuse anything,' says Carole. They're growing veg in the raised beds and looking forward to installing a decked area next year…and possibly 'some sort of water feature'.
Ken Stockley from Wisbech has been an active forum contributor – here he's joining in a discussion about street cats in the garden.
Ken retired through diabetes seven years ago – 'well, I had my HGV licence revoked and, at 60, it's difficult to get another job'. He lives in a ground-floor flat that came with a garden 'overgrown with nettles and just about every other type of weed you could imagine'. As the ground proved to be too challenging to work with, practically all his gardening is done in containers. He's won awards in housing society competitions for Best Vegetable and Best Container garden.
Sharon, Ken and Carol all win a copy of the book Easy Gardening Recipes For Successful Planting (below).
