First of all I am retired, but have no more time now than I had when I was working – great mystery that!
I'm basically an enthusiastic gardener and know exactly what I want to achieve, it's getting it right that is the problem! Definitely organic, and so am thankful that we have a hedgehog who considers our menu is okay, as we certainly have a lot of slugs! My garden is surrounded by agricultural land on three sides, so weeds are very abundant. Two areas are purely gravel gardens, then there are various borders in assorted places. In total we have about two acres, an acre of which we are developing as a conservation/nature area.
I have been gardening since my early 20s, and to my horror have just realised that is over 45 years! I ought to know more than I do, but enjoy finding out. As far as garden fashion goes, by and large I am not fashion-conscious, but love all cottage-type herbaceous plants, and also cottage annuals – and some shrubs both for foliage and flower. I am hoping to concentrate this year on improving the winter colour. Daffodils etc abound, as do crocus – and I am a big lily fan too.'
