The greenhouse in September

Clean up, pot up, sow and harvest this month under glass

Remove melon plants that have finished fruiting


'Clear out all aubergine, cucumber, melon and pepper plants that have stopped fruiting. Shred and compost their remains.'

CLEAN UP: Clean the benching, flooring and glass with a solution that is safe to use around children, pets and plants.

HARVESTING: Harvest chillies and peppers – wash your hands afterwards!

LETTUCE: We pot up the variety 'Blush' into 12cm (5in) pots and sow 'Fristina' into a seed tray.

PARSLEY: Pot up into 12cm- (5in-) diameter pots.

PEST CONTROL: Spray the greenhouses and conservatory with insecticidal soap to control the white fly and red spider mite that have appeared.

PLANT CLEAR-OUT: Clear out all aubergine, cucumber, melon and pepper plants that have stopped fruiting. Shred and compost their remains.
