'There's plenty happening in the rose marquee with demonstrations, talks and
question-and-answer sessions with members of our Q&A team.'

Find us in the Rose Marquee
Once again, roses will be a highlight of the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (3-8 July), which hosts The Festival of Roses – the largest rose display in the country and the second most visited destination of the showground. Here, new Rose of the Year 2008, 'Sweet Haze' will be unveiled.

If you're visiting the show this year, drop by and visit the Gardens Monthly / Gardening.co.uk team at our stand (FR16) in the rose marquee. In keeping with our floral environment, we'll be offering a free rose while stocks last if you subscribe to Gardens Monthly magazine – and you'll also walk away with your free copy of the July issue. Hurry though – the roses are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our subscriptions team, Daniel Webb and Chris Webb (no relation), will be on hand to explain what's on offer and the benefits of subscribing. Just fill in a simple form, and we can sign you up as a website member for free too.

Also on the stand Gardens Monthly editor Liz Dobbs and horticultural advisor Julie Hollobone will be demonstrating how to team roses up with the most effective and practical containers, so you can show your roses off in style and get the best performance out of them too. They'll experiment with different planting schemes to show how well roses can work with other plants.

There's plenty more happening in the rose marquee with further demonstrations and talks from our regular contributor Brad, popular designer Andy Sturgeon and Nick Hamilton of Barnsdale Gardens – plus question-and-answer sessions with members of our Q&A team and expert rose growers to boot.

For more details on the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, including opening times and prices, visit the RHS website or call 0870 842 2227.

Coming soon on site – rose trials nationwide
The British Association of Rose Breeders (BARB) was founded in 1973 to promote the growing of roses, provide information and help to rose growers across the country. One of the main functions of the Society is to conduct trials for new breeds of roses from all over the world. As the climate in Britain varies greatly from place to place, trials take place throughout the country. Keep an eye out for gardening writer Val Bourne's account of rose trials across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales – coming soon to Gardening.co.uk – with details of the best roses and their suppliers selected from each.
