Hi Im a head gardener at a lovely 26 acre hotel, I tell people through the winter to laugh when im cold, because in summer it will be me laughing at them when im basking in bright warm sunshine, wearing only a t shirt and shorts instead of jumpers and thermals.........They told us we were going to experience the best summer in years this year because of global warming instead we are experiencing the wettest summer, all the bedding plants are battered down the grass is growing twice as fast and worst of all im still in my jumpers and waterproofs will it ever end, will we see a nice sunny day, are there any jobs in a nicer climate....

If this is global warming they can keep it.

Hi Gary

Perhaps you need to get your hotel to build a nice conservatory - like the new RHS one!

Hi Gary

Welcome to the site. Read about you in your profile. I'm not sure where Weardale is but it sounds like a very scenic area.
What's the name of the hotel?

You mention you're interested in Koi. If you can pick up the July issue of Gardens Monthly, on sale now, there's a piece on Koi-keeping by Charlie Dimmock.

Hi

Thanks for all the messages, weardale is situated between Wolsingham ( Co Durham ) and Alston (cumbria )it is a linear dale with one road in and the same out, it is famous for flourosite mines and is a designated area of outstanding national beauty, we are approx 19 miles from Durham and 35 miles from Newcastle and is well worth a visit.
I have picked up the issue of gardens monthly and it should be pretty informative I have a lot of respect for Charlie so will look forward to reading it.
And yes it is hot when it rains so when you put your waterproofs on you end up wetter inside than out.
The hotel is the Derwent Manor Hotel in Allensford.
