The odd thing is that I usually do my digging in stout shoes anyway. My soil is quite heavy (silt with a touch of clay - about 200 yards from the Thames in an area which I suspect used to be water meadow), so digging it in the wet is extremely hard work and generally counter-productive.
The wellies only really come out to keep my legs dry from spills when I'm watering, ie. in dry weather, or if a job really has to be done in the wet, such as picking or maintenance. No real thorns on my plot either.
I was recommended T&C as a reliable brand, and I'm prepared to give them another go if they come back with a satisfactory settlement. I can accept that the odd bad product might slip through the net of quality control. Let's hope they're prepared to put it right.
On the other side of 'consumer affairs', I wrote to both Kings Seeds and Thompson & Morgan, advising them of my successes and failures this year. I just thought they'd like the feedback. Each replied with some vouchers for next year's catalogues, so good on them.
