hey all

i found amongst a relatives old pots and gardening supplies an old grape plant (marechal foch) and a kiwi. the kiwi had been tipped on its side in the pot. most of it had died, but the leaves look fine near the bottom. i pruned off the top growth where the inside was dead, but soaked it in water for 10mins, got rid of the old clayish soil and repotted in eracious soil with perlite.

the grape was in terrible condition. i kept cutting back, finding only dead dry inside (well, the outer ring of the inside of the stems was green, but the centre was brown - not good i dont think!) i cut it right down so only a couple of inches of stem remain near the bottom, the inside being pretty much all green that far down. again, i soaked it, cleared some of the old soil and moss from the top, and potted it again with a bit of new compost. the root ball is very big for such a small stump!

both are now in one of those little assemble-yourself greenhouses on the south/southeast side of the house. they will recieve good sun throughout the morning and a part of the afternoon, less as evening approaches.

the kiwi might stand a chance i think, but its the grape i am concerned over. i dont hold out much hope that it will grow back, but i am going to give it a shot. does anyone think it might stand a chance? or if anyone can think of anything i can do to help them both along please let me know!
