How do you sort a problem out with a neighbours mamouth ASH tree. This year as well as last years rain it has grown so large. It overlooks my bungalow and shades it badly. Have spoken to the owners several times, asking them to visit me just to see the problem. We have had no anamosity regarding the tree, but they have still not visited??

Hi

Do a search for Thuja placata. Grows quick and has perfumed leaves when you crush them. It really depends on how much you want to pay regarding size. As with most plants the bigger they are the more you pay, but you may get some bargains if you have a look around.

Hi

You appear to be wasting your time speaking to your neighbours about the problem. I would suggest that you visit your nearest Citizen's Advice office for assistance. They may be able to arrange a free visit to a solicitor. Ash trees are seen by most to be weed trees so there will be no preservation order on it. Your neighbour may be thinking of the expense of having it removed but the longer it is left to grow the more it will cost to remove.

I agree with Bazza that a thuja would be the one to go for.  Much more suitable than a leylandii in my humble opinion.
