Hi all!

still trying to broaden my understanding od gaqrdening two more questions

1) I understand some people use rain water collected rather than their own tap water as they live in hard water areas. I dont think i live in a hard water area, but is it worth using rain water instead of tap water? what kind of benefits, if any, would it show over my tap water?

2) Anyone have an opinion on using epsom salts to rejuvinate foliage? i just used a very weak epsom salt and water solution to spray the foliage on my lemon, lime and calamondin tonight. anyone had any success stories?

thanks in advance

Hi

1. I think you would know if you lived in a hard water area - furry kettles etc. Assuming you don't then saved rain water for plants would cut down costs if you are on a meter BUT if not stored correctly it can spread diseases in warmth of greenhouse etc so tap water better for young seedlings etc.

Epsom salts - generally thought to be a good thing as it is widely availabe & cheap and works as a foliar feed - n ot needed regularly just a tonic for sick plants.
