Do camellia's need protection over winter?

      if so how?

Same here Clifford. I never protect my cameias and never had any problems with them.

Hi

Camellias are very hardy and do not need protection from frost. The flowers as they emerge however will need protecting from early frost as it will turn the flowers brown. Covering overnight with a fleece will resolve that problem.
