I plan to plant my courgettes out soon, i was wondering what size container and could I put two plants in together. Same question about butternut squash. I have 4 cor's and 4 squash's so I would like to avoid using 8 containers if I can. What about one of each per container? Wow so many questions.

Hi Rob

I believe I have answered this question on storing, but here goes if you missed it. According to books, courgettes are meant to store well for about a week. I must say, my courgettes stored easily for two weeks and looked like they would continue storing well for much longer. The skins are harder than those from a supermarket, and I have allowed them to grow pretty large.

Check your variety because this might affect their ability to store well.

I keep them in the vege rack in the kitchen, although one stored happily in the greenhouse for 2 weeks in spite of the warmth. Like a lot of veg, you can blanch and bulk freeze them, if you have the freezer storage room. The courgette is handy in ratatouille and I've discovered courgette soup which is great.
